My dear visitor, What is astounding in our human affairs is the myopic view coupled with too narrow a vision of premiere organizations like Nature and Royal Society as well as our own ASCE. We say we have freedom of thought and speech , but let me assure you in my 40 years of public life, my research papers like A new Theory of Rail wheel Interaction etc ( similar new theories ) got published in UIC IRCA Journal s of Europe in 1980-90. But over the decades some thing has gone wrong in our attitude. We have increased communications, too much of stuff floating around and and too much of obscurantism in so called intellectuals presenting papers having very little application in life to improve human life now. But promises in future some thing nice will happen is the refrain. We write to get research grants or get the count of research papers for professional advancement- a short term goal but truly to serve humanity is not the goal. Dear Mr President, welcome! I am worried the path ASCE is taking. A solution to save 98.5% of man made energy in transportation is being denied publication in our Journal on Transportation Engineering! It is a disservice to the members of ASCE to be denied an opportunity to be the first to share a breakthrough development by one of their members. Now they will have to read from some other journals. USA needs urgent solution to make us energy independent, and economic down turn can be addressed with such energy saving transportation solution like Gravity Powered Urban Rail! It is not a joke to be able to save 98 to 70% of man-made energy , replacing the same with gravity power, while using the existing infrastrutire too. I am intrigued as a very senior civil engineering professional with enough professional work reported all round the world, and not needing an endorsement at this stage in my life, what our society is looking for- to be unconcerned with current problems of scoiety makes ...
