Religion & Governance

A thought crossed my mind. Let me share with all of you. Saintly humane persons occurred on the planet irrespective of religious backgrounds. Similarly cruel, dominating , intolerant leaders too occurred irrespective of religious belief to which they belonged. Then more than religion, is it the inner nature of the human, his aspirations, greed or nobility , need to dominate and control all around made them use all tools at command including religion to serve own purpose? Even in vedic age some groups try to prevail on others to adopt their way of life of adharma, quick pleasures, stealing women from others like cows arw stolen as symbols of prized possession, discouraging satwic living, promoting darkness of ignorance, unrestricted pleasurable Iiving habits! So periodically a powerful ruler or leader arose from the turmoil to bring back order and peaceful life where knowledge seekers got back their rightful place. As time passes, again the tamasic forces build up strength...

Twitter Bigbattle Debate-my summary 12 Jan 2012

Engr. B. Rajaram ;Inventor ACD/SkybusJan 12, 2012 06:23 PM This is truly impressive. Even minutes of the meeting available. The technology has made this possible. Why Governance cannot be done using the technology tools- economically and decision along with work flow is made visible to every citizen? As MD of KR, I did implement open visibility for workflow and file notings, even for audit to watch in real time. You will be surprised how a Minister stared at me, when I told him that when he wants to give any order that would straight away appear in my work flow scheme for all to see. Then he backed off! Actually it is the bureaucrat who has the power of declaring a file secret or open. Even what Railway Board's communication marked confidential, I used to declare as open, by posting reply on the servers, if it is not involving any individual's private concerns , and public are the stake holders. There is no constitutional provision to hide the workflow of governance. The secrecy ...

Lok Pal Bill- do not subvert the Constitution

Public administration & governance issues demand not Twitter and Facebook group pressures and inputs but educated inputs from those who truly understand the principles of government, legislation and jurisprudence. If we do not want to believe in the capability of Prime Minister and Justices if Supreme Court then, what next? Is it anchors of Times Now and NDTV and few splinter groups vociferous in protests who should be able rewrite constitutional authorities' fate? The constitution did provide adequate well thought out processes for punishing these highly placed institutions. Yes, it is a more difficult process than like punishing a peon. We cannot create parallel subordinate but having superior authority like Lok Pal compared to Supreme Court and Cabinet of the country. Too much confused misdirected effort is going on. What is the key contributor for the various cogs in the wheel of governance to deviate from sworn path of honest discharge of duties? In my opinion th...

A case for outsourcing the governance ....

'Business' of running a government is very attractive says a former IAS officer.... http://www. thehindubusinessline.com/2010/ 10/28/stories/ 2010102851210800.htm If one state can produce Rs 3000 cr black money, that is what is fueling the black money economy. Political processes and the current process of governance when replaced by the outsourcing model, then the middle men and brokers need vanishes. The number of idle power peddlers will drastically vanish. Please see: http://www.google.com/buzz/105838960820720762366/cYkXjp4Hh8M/Why-not-outsource-governance-of-society The operator loves to maximise his profit, and so will assure there is no leakage of revenues. Service quality is measurable and reviewed transparently quarterly through electronic means and so citizens will have direct view of their governance results. I kind of divisions in the society for the sake of votes, will vanish. The broadbased partyless voting for selecting the Governor and President, the people them...

Why not outsource governance of society?

A thought crossed my mind. Why not offer on Design, Finance and administer the society to assure peaceful living with 90% of all the tax income put in an escrow account , assuring a steady income to the private consortium which will run all services, provide infrastructure law and order protection, communications of specified standards? A contract for 33 years is not bad and may be the Governor of each state may remain as the figure head like Queen of England, except that he gets elected, every 3 to 5 years. Google, some other construction and infrastructure companies may form a consortium in US and similarly, Reliance, Birlas, Tatas, GMR type infra companies in India, can certainly form consortium and take over delivery of governance. The government offices can be closed down and golden hand shakes can be organised by the same mega-consortium. Only army is in my scheme kept funded by the 10% of tax revenues and may be some percent of profits of the consortium too. Under control of the...

Retrospecting about my country while in USA

I keep thinking of my country so rich in resources and human capital but so poor in organising and managing to unlock the value! The political and administrative structure has effectively blocked all honest technologically innovative initiatives in favour of imports from abroad. The fact that Indian accounts in swiss banks hold US$ 1.4 trillion as published in press speaks volumes. No wonder our technologies of Skybus or Anti-collision device network take pretty long time to be implemented quickly, because our own administrative structure which has to deliver, is more anxious to get from abroad what is needed and view Indian initiatives with disdain. The common man ishelpless and continues to lose his wealth and gets more and more burdened with national debt. Further the inflation is fueled by unproductive expenditures by the government and we see the results today. When will wisdom dawn in our rulers that they cannot become wealthy by making people poor- that is an unsustainable econo...

How slow our administrators are in uptake about technologies!

It is not just the administrators, but also the administrators who have become consultants who with poor knowledge of engineering and technology hide behind standard de-bunkering arguments whenever they are faced with giving advice on technologies they do not know! So when Skybus standard gauge rail concept came for evaluation, first check they do is whether it was done by an advanced country and running there or not. Once they find it is not available in any other country and we will be doing ourselves by understanding the same, they will adopt the de-bunkering approach. Oh my goodness, it is not a time tested and proven system, public life is involved and so one should await more work on the issue. Actually technical analysis and reasons why it wont work is absent. If the railway gauge, wheels and bogie only are used, it is not explained by these self-proclaimed experts why it works for normal railway and why it does not work for the Skybus! The load transfer points on to the bogie a...
