A thought crossed my mind. Let me share with all of you. Saintly humane persons occurred on the planet irrespective of religious backgrounds. Similarly cruel, dominating , intolerant leaders too occurred irrespective of religious belief to which they belonged. Then more than religion, is it the inner nature of the human, his aspirations, greed or nobility , need to dominate and control all around made them use all tools at command including religion to serve own purpose? Even in vedic age some groups try to prevail on others to adopt their way of life of adharma, quick pleasures, stealing women from others like cows arw stolen as symbols of prized possession, discouraging satwic living, promoting darkness of ignorance, unrestricted pleasurable Iiving habits! So periodically a powerful ruler or leader arose from the turmoil to bring back order and peaceful life where knowledge seekers got back their rightful place. As time passes, again the tamasic forces build up strength...

Dear Rajaramji, I have great appreciation for your achievements and your knowledge. I see in some of your blogs a high degree of religious conviction and messages. One of them is the link between science and religion. I have some questions on that interface between science and religion. My friend Madhavan Nair who successfully launched our India's moon probe, visited Balaji before launching. His wife also accompanied. Religion is personal and let us leave it at that.Matters of faith be respected as the person's own private personality and mutually one may avoid treading on each other's feelings. There is a sense of humility and recognition of one's limitations as to what a human can do. It is not power that Satya Sai. shows.. it is love for humanity that pervades from him. I studied in Loyola and loved the fathers who taught me well and never for once tried to influence me to change my habits of prayer. They were respectful and did not hesitate to declare and give me the Best Student award ; and it was not a Bible they gave me as present, but Gitanjali of Tagore. In my High School as well as in college I had my best friends Sherrif and Abdullah and never felt a religious color in our relationship. We ate together played together. Even in working life, I was hosted by a Islamic family in Jordan, being land lord of the house we were staying, invited to dine with their families including lady folk . The teenage girls had so many questions about our marriage customs and were continuously giggling. They respected my vegetarian food habits and made sure I get what I need. Some say religion insists on implicit faith and a blind faith at that... Sorry I have some reservation about your statement that religion wants implicit faith, or in other word unquestioning blind faith. All processes of reasoning need implicit faith and that includes science. Religion as understood by a few may be requiring blind faith , just as some scientists who reach the pinnacle also want blind faith in what they say as the infallible theory, till proven wrong, by all others who have not reached the pinnacle of scientific achievement. How Newton suffered and hid quite an amount of his work till he reached a certain stature as well the history of others too indicate this. Our ancients say we are only 5000 years into the 432000 years of the Kali Yuga, in this Manvantara( 28th?) each Manvantara about some 10x 432000 years.. so the destructive phase is still more than 425000 years away. Well these numbers are quite beyond my perception of time which I can experience. Even Maya prediction suffers from interpretation issues..one version is a life style change, a shift in values and power centers of the planet to affect human life in a big way is expected to be triggered. Like the Mayans' own way of life and their calendar were sort of gone out of existence due to external aggression and new value systems got imposed on them years ago.
