Religion & Governance

A thought crossed my mind. Let me share with all of you.

Saintly humane persons occurred on the planet irrespective of religious backgrounds.

Similarly cruel, dominating , intolerant leaders too occurred irrespective of religious belief to which they belonged.

Then more than religion, is it the inner nature of the human, his aspirations, greed or nobility , need to dominate and control all around made them use all tools at command including religion to serve own purpose?

Even in vedic age some groups try to prevail on others to adopt their way of life of adharma, quick pleasures, stealing women from others like cows arw stolen as symbols of prized possession, discouraging satwic living, promoting darkness of ignorance, unrestricted pleasurable
Iiving habits!

So periodically a powerful ruler or leader arose from the turmoil to bring back order and peaceful life where knowledge seekers got back their rightful place.

As time passes, again the tamasic forces build up strength , and humans tend to fall back in to lazy ignorant ways growing selfish day by day.

Now what is different? Different creeds are fighting again for dominant place and practically all of them are ignorant of own so called faith.

What I feel is when people operate in darkness of ignorance instead of bright light of knowledge, only ill  feelings and evil gain dominance.

Society grievously suffers.

Solution is for those who have knowledge stop being mute and throw light of knowledge to limit the forces of ignorance gaining.

Easier said than done. The ruler makes the  difference in this matter.

In our case democracy so majority rule. Statistically knowledgeable and honest remain always few compared to those who want easy life?

So intelligent knowledgeable persons should strive to imbibe values in rulers or set in place systems where they have to perforce follow values.

Bad king leads to bad rulership. Governance has many impacts, including stopping abuse of faith for own interest.

Well, just sharing a few thoughts!

Hare Krishna!
