Hope 2013 will make our lives better!

Wishing Happy New year 2013 has become difficult as our hearts are full of sorrow and and a sense of helpless anger engulfs us. But it is our own brothers and sisters in govt who are becoming villains of circumstance. They too are clue less why and how things they don't like too are happening . It is all a matter of character of govt. I wrote to Justice Verma justice.Verma@nic.in I attach the matter Please peruse. I'd you agree, you also cut and paste and send the same to him. Hope 2013 will find us better by changing character of govt. Then our lives will be better. I pray for that. A law cannot make govt honest. Allows punishment after judicial process. Deterrence is aimed at. But if corrupt govern, it is useless to have strong laws or for that matter any law. So character of governance matters. How do we influence it? All of us are neither honest all the time nor sincere most of the time and leaders , police, judiciary are all from amongst us only. Our own broth

Jyoti shocked us, the villains of circumstance!

Rajaram Bojji 1 hour ago   ·   Air-lifting was criticised many eminent doctors in Hyderabad too. Actually that increased the risk for such an unstable patient, possibly hastening her departure., is what they said. Then to make her faceless, is intriguing too. I am more and more concerned that truly intellectuals of our country are becoming useful idiots, as defined by Krugman. No one really wants to expose the powerful secret of govt- the well nourished and hidden mechanism of secretly interpreting public policy for private benefit. It beats me why we are acting so stupid as not to demand that government cannot have this right under any provision of our constitution as Republic of India, and was followed by colonial masters. A simple looking step. looks too unrelated to any crisis we face, like mega scam or horrendous rape or suicide of innocents facing harassment of authorities. Even we are prepared to lay down lives for bits of information under RTI Act!! That is truly

India truly liberated when PM & women can travel without security!

The political leaders&bureaucrats, merrily raping country's assets, secretly interpreting public policy, corrupted systems too.Anger overflows. There is no leader who can speak. Again rhetoric is taking over instead of cool analysis. Poor youth too innocent.Water canons!! I find too many intellectuals on channels throw out verbose animated talks beating around the bush. Diverting us knowingly. One ca nnot separate corrupt rulers and deterioration of law and order as separate phenomena.Corrupt take care of media and debilitate rest. Why only criminal minded are dominating the elections? Why so much money and liquor flows in elections? Try to analyse. What attracts them? Obviously, public service is not attracting them. They are to recover their investment many times over. How govt power facilitates? Think. Public policy is made for public good. But while implementing, the colonial practice of secret interpretation of policy followed. This secret interpretation of public policy, lo

Rapes & scams in India. One simple solution, not another Act nor more police!

Friend Requests Messages Notifications Rajaram Bojji 9 minutes ago   ·   Felt sad watching the spirited debate and anguish finally culminating in helplessness in both the houses of Parliament. Members truly are showing tears and anger. But tomorrow they forget. If they are serious , it is not stronger law or more police which can protect the typing women or public assets. It is honest ruler who can make the difference with values enforced down the line. Solution is not far to seek . It is actually too simple, but are we really honest to demand it? The root cause of all our ills is the attraction of power for the corrupt. More than public service as intention, the opportunity to be able to secretly record on files mis-interpretin g the public policy to convert power in to wealth doing favours to kith and kin., makes all the best of corrupt invest in elections as a pure business proposal. They thus corrupt thew system further. Rapes and murde

We the people are too innocent and love to be misled by heros made by us!

How innocent we have been living not knowing what is hurting the nation and our lives! We keep on blaming why corrupt guys only are able to spend crores and seek political power finallly to steal our tax money which is spent as they please, to benefit own kith and kin. We compalin and then think of RTi and feel we have a great facility , for which we fought well and succeeded. But did we? Are we not duped? The corruption continues. A few activists die also while seeking information under RTI. but we have many young idealists, who believe that RTI is good and think they achieved something whenever some small fish in government get inconvenienced. But it is nothing for the sharks in the government. They play this game with public very well. They continue to steal the public assests, by carefully nurturung the privilege of secret interpreatation of public policy with stated objective of public good, but in realirty helping themselves and their own. When scams like 2g get ex

Quiet flows the Ganga!

I have been operating on Twitter and Facebook apart from running my own blogs for the past decade. What I observe is the same attitudes and compartmentalisation as obtained in real life take place  in these formats. You make groups and follow nor "unfollow" persons and the big shots and celebrities use it as just one way of communication , just one way, no response just as out happens in real life...they refuse to respond and some even block comments. The humans cannot get out of the basic anthropological compulsions and comfort of belonging to own clan or class. Now a days news print also recognise the need for readers to express their immediate , sometimes thoughtless but emotional outbursts, instantly web posting comments once their email is registered. You won't believe that such venemous language can be used to express yourself! Grace is missing on the web. Only a few digital publications like Moneylife run by Sucheta Dalal truly stand up without need t

Rahul Gandhi and Dr Swamy

Image
Well.  Swamy is generally thorough with his documentation and goes step by step, unlike Kejriwal. Now he will first tell Corporate Affairs Min to inquire and come out with a statement. He will then move a court to force the Ministry to file the inquiry report. Matters of fact and matters of interpretation arise. The former cannot be refuted. Documents stand how ever high a person is. Interpretations become subject of judgment, and once the case is converted as matters of judgment, the administration , loses its grip. Though the process takes longer, with slow fire burning, without the sparkle of sudden fire works , it becomes a persistent dagger, slowly getting deeper for a person who erred. I can only pity the young man Rahul, who could have seized the moment offered by Anna at Ramlila, and could have walked to Ramlila and took the center stage with the team and moved positively in the Parliament, the case. He could have become a national hero of youth for that act,

The most gullible Indian youth

Individuals are not important but the issue at hand is critical. Hero worship is not the way country progresses. The fight to save our nation and seize the moment of opportunity to show case what is true India and who we are taking in to account our ancient values of  emphasizing on knowledge, honesty and  commitment to basic human welfare, has been delayed for the last 60 years. We failed to liberate in true sense to call ourselves, a Republic- where citizens are the ultimate bosses. It is not only at the time of voting that the citizen is remembered, but he has fundamental right to know why and how his appointees are functioning.  After voting, it does not mean, he has handed over the country and all the nation's assets , to the temporary trustees for 5 years,  to do what they please to do themselves in utmost secrecy, hiding files, and releasing only asset alienation orders , favouring own kith and kin. Who granted this right to keep public files, which do not deal

Indian Railway make over

Converting the our legacy railways in to automated gravity powered systems, keeping the same rolling stock and tracks, can eliminate 90% of locomotives , signals and train control systems, and vastly save on operating expenses. It is feasible. The level of investment needed and returns summarized too. While working principles are based on Newton's laws, and duly peer reviewed for science and engineering, the financials are made up story by me. The papers were sent to also to DFCC and Railway Ministry a couple of years ago to go in to trash, of course. Amazingly, administrations will first dismiss , out of hand , the technology as " unproven& untested over 20 years" etc. Following the same technology path adopted by western countries almost half a century ago, it is obvious that either you have to be stinking rich to buy and maintain legacy technologies with marginal facelifts . China being rich could do. But Indians are not. But capital of intellect which the

Extending Einstein's theory beyond light speed

I personally held a belief that any a statement of absolute limit is a self defeating in the universe of unknown. Why speed of light should be limit for speed? Used to be my question in college  days. About two years ago also in Scientific American did publish one or two letters on this issue. Mathematics goes beyond the comprehensible reality of the present. Mathematics challenges human mind to explore new areas of thinking . I am very happy. When knowledge we gained in last 1000 years or less in evidence based science, is infinitesimally tiny relative to our close to infinite ignorance , in all humility one should allow oneself to walk the new paths though with caution & circumspection by not exhibit  bravado. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw 11th Nov. 1998 Relevant today too!

----------------------------                              FIELD MARSHAL SAM MANEKSHAW’S LECTURE                              AT DEFENCE SERVICES COLLEGE, WELLINGTON                                         ON LEADERSHIP AND DISCIPLINE                                                 11TH NOVEMBER, 1998        Commandant, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am fully conscious of the privilege, which is mine, to have been invited here to address the college. A while ago, I was invited to a seminar where the subject was youth, and people said that the youth of this country was not pulling its weight, that society generally was not satisfied with how the young were functioning. When I was asked what I thought about it, I said that the youngsters of this country are disappointed, disturbed and confused. They cannot understand why all these untoward things are happening in this country. They want to know who is to blame. Not them. If they want to study at night and there is no power, they w

Apply the same to our MPs: India will change too!

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. Congressional

I and the universe

When in school, some of us used to make fun of what is the point to know that Ashoka, some guy in past had planted trees along roads and constructed some resting places for people on move. Why do we need to know now? Unfortunately we must learn and write the test paper to get our marks. Such useless knowledge! Well at every stage of life one has different perception of knowledge, again based on understanding of knowledge gained. The dance of our own mental reactions to every idea of others is what we basically enjoy. It is very critical as to in which avatar we view an event or situation. As an inquirer to learn, or to pass judgment . We are prisoners of our own prejudices. I find as we gain more and more experience of what we learn, wisdom lies in refusing to judge but remain a humble scholar. While in school I had more confidence to judge. With time the judgmental attitude is waning for me. So as a mere learner , I do appreciate and wonder how some of our celebrated hig

What India needs urgently

Let the Opposition do its homework, UPA is out on its own misdeeds Dr Jay Dubashi I often wonder why we Indians rarely, or perhaps never, rise against our useless and corrupt rulers, like, for instance, the Arabs did or have been doing against their dictators all these months. We never rose, as a nation, against the Moghuls, and though we did manage to shake up the British in 1857, things soon reverted to normal, and life proceeded as before for almost another century. Now, of course, we don’t really have to rise, for there are elections every few years, when we troop to the voting booths to cast our votes, and often elect the same useless people who have been looting us for the previous five years. We complain against the Congress junta and end up voting for the same corrupt junta, though we have a chance to throw it out. There are a few people like Anna Hazare who try to raise the temperature once in a while, and though some people do respond, things never quite reach
