The most gullible Indian youth

Individuals are not important but the issue at hand is critical. Hero worship is not the way country progresses. The fight to save our nation and seize the moment of opportunity to show case what is true India and who we are taking in to account our ancient values of emphasizing on knowledge, honesty and commitment to basic human welfare, has been delayed for the last 60 years.

We failed to liberate in true sense to call ourselves, a Republic- where citizens are the ultimate bosses. It is not only at the time of voting that the citizen is remembered, but he has fundamental right to know why and how his appointees are functioning.

 After voting, it does not mean, he has handed over the country and all the nation's assets , to the temporary trustees for 5 years,  to do what they please to do themselves in utmost secrecy, hiding files, and releasing only asset alienation orders , favouring own kith and kin.

Who granted this right to keep public files, which do not deal with national security issues, which may need discretion, to be kept so secret. that we need an additional act to give us right to information, [RTI] , to get rationed information duly sanitised, like crumbs thrown to a dog? And why some innocents should lose lives also? 

Official Secrets Act is valid only for military, security of nation and similar cases, where foreign agencies or criminals should not know the country's vulnerabilities.

By no stretch of imagination, an award of a contract, or allocation of land, or licensing rights for oil fields, or granting capital infusion to banks, to make up non-performing assets by piling up huge funding to favoured incompetent business houses taking undue advantage of public funds, be considered deserving to be kept secret under Official Secrets act of the British era.

During the process of a govt public order, to allow fair un-influenced working of the bureaucracy and the Minister concerned, it is justified to hold the file confidential. But once decision is taken, there is absolutely no justification for the government, to hide the file and the proceedings. Since decisions are to be based on public policy for public good, why the need for secrecy , once the order is issued? Unless they are not based on public policy or for the public good, no government should hesitate, to webpost the file with orders.

The corrupt today flock to government to tap this wonderful source of generating income compromising on public good. They have become powerful, to save this secret of government, and not a single media, or Kejriwal, or Prashant Bhushan, or Ann Ji even care to publicly demand that this secrecy of proceedings once orders are finalised on non-security issues , should cease.

It is not they do not know. Number of times I had opportunity to beg them to publicly highlight using their specail media attraction and demand as one of their many demands along with Lokpal. But no way. They too are as silent as the PMO.

Why? No one becomes hero in this. Every citizen becomes a hero. The moment, the full file proceedings are going to be public, then the honey pot of government power vanishes. Open documents make it simple to expose before the corrupt can make money with undue favor. Adarsh can never occur nor 2 g scam nor the coalgate, nor CWG or Vadra. 

Exposure in media and court actions becomes easy and enforceable without need for registration of a case for first inquiry, then CBI taking years just to look into existing files, then after a  few more years, file a case in court which is weak and get dismissed. 

We citizens can truly be masters then.

 But even the activists do not want this. It is not ignorance of government's working, but wanton collusion with vested interests, to keep the same British practice in vogue, so that , they can take turns in occupying the seats of power , favouring each other. The public are fooled and we citizens may cry hoarse but to no effect. 

I had lot of hopes when Anna conducted the Ramlila ground agitation. But soon found out no one wants to actually make India corruption-free. When they were refusing to attack the problem at the root, the thought crossed my mind, which I wrote in my blogs, why activists also are protecting the corrupt. Do they have political ambitions, then? This is only a launching platform?

My doubts expresses 8 months ago , finally came true when Kejriwal announced suddenly political party without consulting the team. Well best of luck to him As an eternal optimist, I hope when he becomes CM Delhi, he would issue the first executive order, that every file when order is finalised, shall be web-posted in Delhi state. Ot is just an executive order.

But will he do it?

Since the team refused to even demand such a step, which requires no act or law, it leaves me with sense of disappointment with the way youth of our nation are so gullible, and do not think for themselves.
