Anna has come and gone- what next?

It keeps recurring back to my mind how from the time British left us, we the former subjects of the Empire, were forced to accept the Executive privilege of keeping the process of governance secret from us, the lowly natives and mere subjects.

At that time also chosen few of us served the Empire, or worked pro-actively with them, like businessmen and royal families as well as rich land lords.

Then the loot from the country got carried away to London while they developed infrastructure like railways, roads or cities or sold clothes for us at prices we are not told about.

Those who helped thus are shown gratitude by the government by conferring titles and special gun salutes etc.

Today also we continue to be the same subjects, businessmen, landlords in the form of political class proactively work with the government, and continue to use the same Executive privilege of keeping things secret from us and stash the loot abroad developing infrastructure and implementing public purpose projects at enormous costs.

We are happy to have even roads being done by foreign companies, Metros, new products imported at costs four to five times, very carefully killing any Indian initiatives to apply own intelligence and produce better systems and products.

Those who help thus the government, today are conferred with titles, awards or Honourary positions of heads of organisations with special privileges. Just like British days. Difference now is even foreign countries which benefit from such help from Indians , confer their own Honorific titles, which we subjects, applaud with pride.

Just as British cut fingers of master weavers of India, today we cut out such initiatives, merely by condemning in secret files, writing what they like.

We happily or cursing continue in our journey as subjects, not even understanding the tricks of the executive privilege of secrecy usurping our wealth.

Once in a way a person like Anna, creates Gandhi like charisma arousing the nation, but then wrong identification of the culprit, by the leaders assisting him, finally makes the movement fizzle out. Anna is silent now.

The executive privilege of secrecy in keeping the process unknown to us, continues unchecked.

We do not know when another Anna comes around, this time with assisting leaders who attack actually at the root of the malaise, instead of building own images and careers in public life.

Mean time we celebrate Maha Shivaratri to forget our difficulties, and seek peace from within, saying it is our karma! Yes it is our karma because we choose ignorance for knowledge, to guide us.
